Biography & Backstory

Bio

Christina Eberli is the founder of On the Flip Side, a lecture series and art advisory startup. Her current clients include Sotheby’s, Christie’s, Roman Thomas, Warburg, and Colnaghi, as well as private clients by whom she is contracted for fundraisers and special events. She worked for Sotheby's as a Restitution Specialist from 2009-2018, where she ensured that works of art sold through Sotheby’s had not been stolen or lost between 1933 and 1945. She continues to do provenance research for many museums, galleries, and organizations, and her research is cited in the Nelson-Atkins Museum of Art. She serves as a Board member of the American Friends of the Louvre, and mentors young women interested in becoming provenance researchers. She is a member of the Frick Collection Young Fellows, the Metropolitan Museum of Art Apollo Circle, and Museum of Modern Art Junior Associates and has volunteered on many host committees for non-profit organizations. She is currently developing a salon series styled after the Parisian salons of the 18th century,  where one of the topics will be to examine works of art from the female perspective.

She graduated Cum Laude from The George Washington University in 2009 with a B.A. in Art History.

Background

I am passionate about art, fashion, and beauty. Art drives and inspires my every day life. I spend most of my free time in museums or galleries and travel regularly seeking art. My passion for art has expanded to fashion allowing me to be creative with my personal style. Many of my friends work in the beauty industry and their passion has rubbed off on me igniting my curiosity to learn more. I enjoy looking at things in a different way, from different perspectives. This drove my work in provenance and restitution.

At Sotheby’s we were encouraged to create new ways to engage our clients outside of our role. I was inspired by my friends and former colleagues at Sotheby’s who have developed exciting programs, lectures, and events. With their support, while at Sotheby's, I created On the Flip Side.
